HDD Whiney Noise due to Worn Spindle Bearings.

Diagnoses:
Worn spindle bearings.

Possible Causes:
Normal long-term wear is 7 - 10 years before this happens..

Explanation:
That whiney noise you hear are the spindle bearings after they've been worn down.
If this drive is more than 7 years old, there may be enough wear on the bearings to cause this to happen. If this is happening on a drive before the warranty has expired -- take it back!

Solution:
Motor-housing Replacement. We will match & replace the motor-housing with one that doesn't whine. If you can still read data from this drive it will be much better to clone the data from this drive onto another working drive instead of replacing the motor.

Here is the possible labor cost not including parts:

Data Recovery via motor housing replacement.
$300 + parts ($25-$125 up)
We approve this on-line estimate and will offer you a signed quote after looking over your drive.

(If you can still access the files on this drive, we recommend that you try cloning this drive instead of data recovery!)
