That whiny noise is coming from worn spindle motor bearings. If this drive is more than 7-10 years old, you may have worn bearings.
This condition throws the heads out of alignment. When heads are out of alignment, you wiill have trouble reading & writing.
We will remove your head and platter (disks) assembly from that damaged housing and transplant it into a working motor housing. The motor is built into the housing, replacing the housing replaces the motor.
